Tatty – Shmueil Ungar, Yiddish Nachas, Yossi Lax, Zimra & The Freilach Band! A Yaldei Event

Earlier this year at the Yaldei dinner in Montreal the crowd was enjoying a beautiful performance by The Freilach Band, Shmueli Ungar, Yiddish Nachas and The Zimra Choir. When suddenly the room stood still, the crowd was filled with emotion as The band started playing ‘Tatty’ – a song about losing a parent at a young age and the pain and yearning one has, to see their parent again.

This beautiful composition by Yossi Green was originally recorded in English by Dedi and was rewritten with new lyrics by Lipa Schmeltzer for this event. Be enchanted as the angelical voices of Yiddish Nachas featuring child soloist Yossi Lax blend with the powerful voice of Shmueli and backed by the Zimra Choir and The Freilach Band. We are very excited to share with you this special moment.

Enjoy!

Veshuvi Bunim – Motty Ilowitz

The 11th of Cheshvan is the anniversary of Rachel Imainu’s death. For thousands of years, Jews come to pour out their hearts at her grave, because a mother always listens and she cries for, and with, us.

To commemorate this day, the famous composer and singer Motty Ilowitz releases a song about our plea to our “Mama Rachel” to ask for mercy on behalf of her children until the final redemption – ושבו בנים לגבולם.

This song was originally composed and performed on stage at the famous and very popular ‘Interen Shtiel‘ play – a Neuhaus Production – on Chol Hamoed Pesach ’19.

Motty refined the lyrics, reconstructed the idea, and specifically regathered the same ‘interen’ team to be involved in this project.

Arranged & mixed by Hershy Pavel, who originally played the music on stage at the play. Choir was done by Yedidim, led by Yoel Hersh Fuchs, well-known for his extraordinary talents of acting and singing, specifically on the Interen stages.

Vocals recorded at Yufeh Studios.

Tali Yess Releases Emotional Cover Of His Father’s Hit “Yosef My Son”

Musician Tali Yess has just released a remake of his fathers song “Yosef My Son.” The song was about the Holocaust that was one of the most popular songs that his legendary father Moshe Yess A”H would sing. We think he knocked it out of the park, what do YOU think?

LYRICS: YOSEPH MY SON

Verse 1:
A child was born into this world in 1933
A blessing for a Jewish home in Frankfurt Germany
His father taught him Aleph Beis, he learned to read and write
Each night he heard his mother say these words to him

Chorus:
Yoseph my son, the L-rd our G-d is one
G-d is very near, Yoseph my dear
Yoseph my son, the L-rd our G-d is one
Do not fear, we’ll always be together

Verse 2:
Yoseph was a boy of nine in 1942
He had a secret hiding place like all young children do
Horrified, he saw them take his Mom and Dad away
Alone, he heard his mother’s final words to him

Chorus 2:
Yoseph my son, take some food and run
G-d is very near, Yoseph my dear
Yoseph my son, the L-rd our G-d is one
Do not fear, we’ll always be together

Verse 3:
To feel his hand on the Western Wall was a lifelong dream come true
He made it to Jerusalem, the city of the Jew
And he opened up his Siddur as he had done each day
And he prayed to G-d for his mother and his father

And an old man stood there praying for a son he thought long dead
“That voice! That’s my Father’s voice!” was all that Yoseph said
He looked into the old man’s eyes, tears came down his face
And he fell into his father’s embrace

Chorus 3:
Yoseph my son, the L-rd our G-d is one
Come! Your mother’s here, Yoseph my dear
Yoseph my son, a miracle has been done
From now on we’ll always be together

Vocalist Menashe Lichtenstein With A New Single “Ahavas Olam”

It was just a regular afternoon in London, UK. Yossi Fried had been pacing back and forth, trying to get some tunes out of his head which were stuck there for a little while. Finally he sat down at his keyboard, and a composition was created. Yossi then approached Yanky Cohen to create a demo of the song. The demo was created and then the song sat for a while like all others…

Until one day, Yossi called up Motti Gantz and had a conversation with him. While shmoozing, Yossi mentioned to Motty that he had a song laying around for a while, and he wants to know if he would give it a listen. Motti listened to the song, and was amazed right away. He then called up Menashe Lichtenstein who he knew was looking for an awesome song, and told him “I think you’re the right candidate”. Menashe listening to the demo the first time, told Motti to put a hold on the song, not for long, within days Menashe went into Motti‘s studio to record the song, and the rest was history.
Enjoy!

Yisroel Werdyger – Du Voint A Yid [Album Preview]

Yisroel Werdyger’s emergence as a musical superstar is not a wonder to those following his career. Following up on his first four albums, which have taken the Jewish music world by storm and are sung at chasunas and events across the globe, the singer with the golden voice is back with number five.

Du Voint A Yid is certain to be greeted with the same enthusiasm as Bayis Ne’eman, Odeh Lakeil, Avorcho and Ashira V’azamra. It’s a truly masterful production with compositions that are fresh and exciting while still strongly grounded with a chassidishe taam.

Werdyger worked hand in hand his musical friend and producer Shua Fried, searching worldwide for compositions that were a cut above, music that would touch the heart and leave listeners feeling inspired. Considerable time and expense were invested in every song in order to imbue each one with a richness that makes Du Voint A Yid not just a collection of compositions but an uplifting musical experience.

Each of the thirteen songs were lovingly polished to perfection by Shua Fried. The niggunim and melodies were drawn from a wide array of talented composers, from old hands to rising stars. These include Rav Pinchos Breuer, Yossi Green, Rav Hillel Paley, Yitzy Waldner, Yanky Daskal, Hershy Weinberger, Hershy Rottenberg, Meir Adler, Menashe Feigenbaum and Motti Ilowitz.

Du Voint A Yid is being distributed by Aderet and will be available online via MostlyMusic.com and at your local Judaica store.

SHMOR – Gad & Benny Elbaz Feat. Saul Dreier Of The Cecelia Margules Project

The legacy of the Holocaust lives on in Shmor, an emotional music video that has survivors building bridges with children an ocean away, tasking them with perpetuating the memory of the darkest time in the history of the Jewish people. Featuring Gad Elbaz, Benny Elbaz and the Holocaust Survivor Band’s Saul Dreier, Shmor gives the viewer a glimpse of life through Dreier’s eyes, recalling the horrors of the Holocaust during a visit to Yad Vashem and sharing the joy of life as he walks the streets of Jerusalem. Distributing childhood photographs given to him by survivors at Yad Vashem with youngsters at a Long Island Holocaust museum, the 95 year old Dreier passes on to them the responsibility of ensuring that the memory of the Holocaust lives on in future generations.

A Sparks Next production directed by Daniel Finkelman and co-directed by Aharon Orian and Chaya Greenberg, Shmor is set to the timeless words of Tachanun. A haunting plea for the surviving remnants of the Jewish nation to be granted divine protection, Shmor is an original composition written by Cecelia Margules.

“As the number of Holocaust survivors dwindles with every passing year, it is more important than ever that we take steps to pass the torch to the next generation, wherever they maybe,” said Finkelman. “Our children are our future and we look to them to keep that flame alive so that the lessons of the Holocaust and the memories of those who are no longer with us will never be forgotten.”
