Michoel Schnitzler is back with an all new album titled “A Nekidele.” Believe it or not, its his 14th album, and the sixth in the “A Tatte Hert” series which is only in Yiddish. The album features ten new compositions including the title track which was written and composed by the talented badchan, composer and singer Moti Ilowitz. Michoel explains that the reason the title of the album is “A Nekidele,” is because the song is stories about people who came over to Michoel and told them how songs on his last album impacted their lives or lives of their friends/family. Other composers/songs featured on the album are Pinki Weber, Lipa Schmeltzer who’s song is a story about the Reshash and a shidduch, a song about Napolean written by Rabbi Keinig, a song from newcomer Shimmy Lunger from Montreal, Yossi Waldman from Monsey composed a song about the Baal Shem Tov and a song about Yoely Brach a”h written and composed by Leiby Moskowitz.

A Message From Yaakov Shwekey

Dear Friends,

It’s east to notice the difficulties. Cry about the tragedies. Ponder the uncertain future.

But … the miracles are everywhere. If we’ve failed to see them perhaps we’re distracted by the relentless challenges we face. Maybe we’ve just forgotten, we are one. Every time they try to wipe us out, we rise again, reaching even higher.

How can one describe any Jew, anywhere in the world today, anything but a miracle?

My dear mother was born in a DP camp, to an amazingly strong woman who against all odds survived the brutal attempt of her death. One, among millions!

So look around and recognize the Nissim all of them. All then together we will witness the next big one!

Because, We are a miracle!

Shimon Craimer Releases FREE Album “Kolot HaChuppah”

The idea to record “Kolot HaChuppah” came to Shimon Craimer after realizing a few months ago that there are indeed a number of people out there who feel connected to their Judaism but unfortunately not connected to Jewish music. Many individuals in our Jewish world grew up not listening to Jewish music and when they reach a time in their lives to have a life event such as a wedding, the music of their choice is not from a Jewish melodic perspective. More importantly the traditional words sung at the chupah are disregarded too. This album available as a FREE download and will hopefully give the many Chatanim and Kallot who are looking for melodies that make them feel spiritually uplifted and recognizable in their own way and “marry” them with the spirituality of the Hebrew texts that make the Jewish chupah ceremony such a pivotal moment in all our lives.

Am Yisrael Chai | Audio Sampler | Eitan Freilich

Born into a family of singers and chazanim, it’s not surprising that Eitan Freilich is now releasing his international debut album, featuring original compositions from the world’s top Jewish composers.

Eitan has been singing and performing from the age of 13. After studying in Yeshiva in Israel, Eitan trained with distinguished professionals. Famed for his energy and vibrance, Eitan now performs at large events across the United Kingdom.

In April 2015, composer Yossi Green suggested that Eitan should release an album of his own. Eitan recalls: “I didn’t even think of it until Yossi encouraged me. I am so grateful he motivated me – if not for that conversation, I’m not sure we would be discussing an album!”

Days after speaking with Green and with help from Yossi Zweig in New Jersey and Simon Cowen in London, Eitan began work with legendary producer Avi Newmark. Producing an album is no easy task: “A job is not how I would refer to my role as a producer. It’s more of a passion. I bring the production to fruition, from selecting the compositions, to the overall sound picture”, says Avi. When asked what makes Eitan different from other artists he has worked with, Avi responds: “It’s not always about different. Eitan has a drive for perfection and a genuine love of music, which he communicates very well. These qualities have helped create an album that Eitan can wear like a well tailored suit.”

Eitan and Avi began work on the material for the upcoming debut album. Composers worldwide began sending Avi songs, hoping they would be chosen for the album. Compositions by Yitzy Waldner, Ari Goldwag and Elie Schwab, to name a few, were selected. Eitan recalls, “I received sterling advice from artists such as Baruch Levine and Eitan Katz. Certain songs really inspired me.” How does a producer knows when a song will be successful? “Simple”, says Avi. “No artist is the same. You need a complete understanding of your artist as a singer and as a person. It is not just vocal skill that dictates what songs should be used.”

In June, Eitan flew to New York to meet the team that would be working on his album. He also met with composer Yitzy Waldner, who with Avi, showed him round the studio and worked with him on further compositions. On his return to London, Eitan worked with an award-winning vocal coach in preparation for an intense recording experience. “Most singers record their albums at their own pace” Eitan reflects, “We decided to block out three weeks from my schedule. This would be an intensive recording process, recording day after day until my vocals were complete.” He also began studying the lyrics and sources with his Rabbonim in London, to gain deeper insights into each song.

Eitan returned to New York in August to record his vocals. Avi remarks, “Eitan is just a lot of fun. He can stay relaxed even though there is a lot he is working on. That just makes for good times in the studio. Oh yeah and he is super witty!” Avi worked closely with arranger Ian Freitor and his team. The arranger is responsible for interpreting the raw composition. He may decide matters like which instruments are used, the key, tempo, style and form. “Ian and Avi are an incredible duo. They pushed the best out of me in the studio”, Eitan enthuses. “The creative process is clearly top of the list in importance for any production”, says Avi. “Ian and I have worked together for many years, on many projects, launching many stars. I am very selective in who I work with in every aspect of production. Ian and I make the perfect team. So yes Eitan is correct.” responds Avi.

After just three weeks, the vocals were finished and Eitan returned to London. Avi and Ian worked intensely in the studio to finish the tracks, working with the Yedidim choir, and the talented Yitzy Spinner. Meanwhile, designer Levik. T. and Eitan’s management worked on the graphics and marketing materials. Eitan also teamed up with comedian Mendy Pellin from Beverly Hills. They began working together to write the script for a spectacular music video and currently have a team preparing their 5-day-video-shoot with their film crew.

Why purchase this album? “It’s a total package”, responds Avi. “There is something here for everyone, and Eitan delivers right on point.”

Am Yisrael Chai’ by Eitan Freilich will be distributed by Nigun Music to stores worldwide and available for digital download this week.

Watch a classic Chassidic story told with a modern twist In “The Maggid” – the single off of Rogers Park’s debut album with the same title. With a driving backbeat and electrifying vocals, Yosef Peysin and Mordy Kurtz are storming the Jewish music scene with creativity and soul in this hilarious video.

Rabbi Hillel of Paritch wanted to spend Shabbos with his Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch. A young chossid offered to make the trip on condition that Reb Hillel would not take too much time with his tefillos. Reb Hillel agreed and they immediately embarked on their journey.

Morning came and the young chossid went to collect Reb Hillel and saw him pouring out his heart before his Creator. Hours went by before Reb Hillel finished. Understandably, the young chossid was quite upset.

“I though you wanted to spend Shabbos with the Rebbe and you promised to rush your prayers. Now there is no way that we can get to Lubavitch on time!” exclaimed the young chossid.

“Let’s say you wanted to you wished to journey to the fair in Leipzig to purchase some rare merchandise only available there,” replied Reb Hillel. “If a merchant came on the way and offered you the same merchandise for the same price certainly you purchase it right there. Only a fool would insist to continue on to Leipzig!”

“The reason we go to the Rebbe is to find our path to attain love and fear of G-d in our prayer. So, if on my way to the Rebbe my praying goes well should I drop it and insist on running to Leipzig?”

Rogers Park is “America’s ONLY Chassidic Folk Band”.

Kosher Broadway Comes To Brooklyn

Most people who hear about Yosef, The Musical think it’s going to be Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice’s whimsical take on the biblical story of Joseph. In fact, the only similarity to that show will be the adjective “amazing” which will describe this unprecedented event in Jewish entertainment. “This will be the first ‘Broadway’ caliber musical written and performed with the frum community in mind,” said Zvika Bornstein, director, producer and co-writer of this original retelling of the story of Yosef, Hatzadik. “I like to think of it as ‘Yosef, without the dreamcoat,’” said Dr. Stuart Rappaport, co-writer and co-producer of the show.

As Bornstein and Rappaport developed the idea of creating a musical production that could be attended by all segments of the Jewish community and highlighting a theme of “unity”, Kulanu, an organization for children with special needs, agreed to partner on the project. The original thought was to do “Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” But after careful consideration, Bornstein and Rappaport realized that the Andrew Lloyd Weber/Tim Rice version was not accurate to the Torah story of Yosef .

When Mr. Bornstein, who is Gad Elbaz’s producer, told the Israeli superstar about the project, Gad was excited to come on board. “I knew if Zvika was directing and producing this show, then it had to be top notch. It was something I had to be part of,” said Gad. So he and Zvika took some of Gad’s already familiar music and added some new and original compositions, specifically for this musical. The beautiful music was enhanced by lyrics and a script written by Bornstein and Rappaport, all based on the Torah and commentaries.

Mr. Bornstein then approached Yaakov Spadaro, an extremely talented musical director, musician and vocal coach, who sings with the popular group “Six13,” and asked him to serve the musical director. “When I listened to the score and lyrics, I was blown away”, said Mr. Spadaro. This was truly a work of art that I had to be a part of. I am so excited to be involved in this project.”

Dr. Beth Raskin, executive director of Kulanu has been working very closely with Bornstein and Rappaport to ensure the production’s success. “This is such an emotional story and it is told with a strong emphasis on unity within the community. It was only natural that an organization like Kulanu, which translates to “all of us together” would be the one to produce it,” Dr. Raskin said.

“The story of Yosef is so powerful” said Mr. Bornstein. “It deals with love, jealousy, pain, hope and faith. And the underlying message that I wanted to focus on is family unity, which I believe was Yosef’s ultimate motivation. I want families to see this together and come out feeling uplifted.” “I believe that this will be a learning experience for many people,” said Dr. Rappaport. “There are aspects to this story that I had never perceived until we studied each character in depth. I know that most people will walk out of this play feeling that they had gained new insights into the story of Yosef and his brothers.”

This show will certainly entertain. The cast of twenty-two men is comprised of professional actors, dancers and singers. In addition, there is an angelic boys’ choir and the famous “Iconic Boyz” dance group. This is a grand stage spectacle with colorful costumes and sets that takes place on stage and throughout the theatre. This will be the first show of its kind, created for men, women and children to enjoy together. A timeless story told through contemporary music and dance with scenes that are hysterically funny, as well as emotionally wrenching. This is truly family entertainment at its best!

There will be three performances of this spectacular show: Saturday Night, March 26th at 9:30 PM, Sunday afternoon, March 27th at 5:00 PM and Saturday Night, April 2nd at 9:30 PM. All proceeds will benefit Torah L’Kulanu, and support a Jewish education for children with special needs. The performances are held at the beautiful Master Theater in Brighton Beach, conveniently located near the Belt Parkway and accessible by public transportation. You can order tickets on line at www.Jewishtickets.com or by calling 347-534-0821 Based on the buzz, you should order your tickets now to ensure good seats. Separate seating is available.

Mordechai Shapiro to Release Debut Album – Kol Haderech [Audio Sampler]

Mordechai Shapiro, 26, has just finished recording his debut album, Kol Haderech, due in stores March 14th, 2016. The album featuring 10 original songs has been in production for the last year. Growing up in Monsey, NY, and a former member of the Miami Boys Choir (‘97-’03), Mordechai has long been passionate about music. Mordechai was also featured in a famous duet singing Racheim with Yaakov Shwekey at Miami 25, which has over 2 million views on youtube.

After getting married, Mordechai moved to Eretz Yisroel and lived there for 3 years. He started by singing at Simchas occasionally, but ultimately decided to pursue a more active role in the industry. After moving back to New York, Mordechai quickly became a well known name on the wedding scene, singing with many of the popular orchestras in Jewish Music.

As Mordechai built up his name for two years, several members of the wedding industry reached out to Avraham Zamist and Sruly Meyer, producers, to consider working with Mordechai on his album.

“I had just finished Kol Haneshama Sheli, Benny Friedman‘s latest Album, and in the middle of Dovid Gabay’s new album. I didn’t really consider working with Mordechai at first,” says Sruly Meyer. It wasn’t until Avraham Zamist suggested working with Mordechai as well that they sat down to discuss a plan of action. “We had a series of long conversations about music, past, present and future; it became clear that Mordechai was looking to do something big”, and that is what they did.

After a long process of sitting with composers, the three picked 10 songs that they felt spoke most to Mordechai as an artist and then sent them into production. They selected four songs from Yitzy Waldner, who calls Mordechai “a breath of fresh air”, and says “he can do things with his voice that no one else in the business can do!” Waldner’s four compositions included, “Mi KaHashem, Ivdu, Hayom and the title track, Kol Haderech.

The title track Kol Haderech features original words by Miriam Israeli (who also wrote Yesh Tikvah). The song speaks about the bond between the Yidden and Hashem. No matter what troubles we’ve been through as a nation or as an individual, we never forgot about Hashem. We hope and pray that he too will always watch over and protect us.

The album features two striking ballads from Baruch Levine, including Ki Malachov and Shir Hamaalos. The idea of Shir Hamaalos was inspired from a letter written after two terrible tragedies took two young fathers from their families. In the song’s lyrics “Hayinu Kecholmim” we look forward to the day when Moshiach will arrive, that we will wake up from the “dream” of this long Golus.

Elie Schwab, another composer known for smart lyrics with great messages, contributed Schar Mitzvah, (with music by Ian Freitor) and Chizku (with music by Udi Damari), to the album. Chizku, say’s Elie Schwab “was inspired by Bibi Netanyahu’s citation of this posuk from Parshas Devarim in front of the U.S. Congress. The Jewish nation is about enter Eretz Yisroel, and they look to Moshe to lead them there. “Lo Uchal Od Latzet v’lavoh, Moshe says, I can no longer be your leader as my time has come. Don’t fear, it was Hashem who has carried you until now, and He who will continue to carry you. Be strong! Chizku Ve’imtzu!”

The album was completed by additional songs from Boruch Sholom Blesofsky (Umeloch, with music by Ian Freitor) and a song composed by Mordechai, Lo Alecha, with music arranged by producer, Avraham Zamist. This isn’t Mordechai’s first song, you can find his hit Ani Maamin on youtube, which has over 160,000 hits.

The album features arrangements by Ian Freitor, Udi Damari, Tzvi Blumenfeld, Avrumi Berko, Yoni Eliav, Eli Lishinsky and Avraham Zamist. Kol Haderech will be in stores Monday, March 14th, 2016, and will be available online through MostlyMusic.com, iTunes, Amazon and Google Play. It’s distributed by Aderet Music, and in Israel by Shankys.
